There's something for everyone in the Afan Valley, especially with our action packed off-piste packages. Designed to showcase the natural beauty of the area away from the classic Afan and Glyncorrwg trails, Afan Off-Piste is a great way to go further than ever before and explore more natural and gnarly trails.
We offer a three types of off-piste packages to help you get the most out of your experience. You'll be picked up from the Afan Valley Bike Shed and transported to each of the routes. We're also able to source accommodation for you, at additional cost, depending on your requirements; a lodge, hotel or camping, whatever your budget, we're sure we can find you a comfortable place to stay.
Afan Off-Piste: Guided
If you have been riding Afan for years and have ridden all the trail centre trails but now want to go a little further off the beaten track without being too extreme, we can offer you a more lengthy ride taking in more scenery and natural beauty.
If you’re going to be guided, we believe you should get the opportunity to ride terrain you haven’t ridden before, starting at the Afan Forest Visitor Centre, it won’t be long before you fail to recognise where you are as this valley has so much more to offer than the man-made trails.

As there are many miles of hills, mountains and countryside here, we want you to sample as much of the terrain as possible while taking it easy on the pedalling side. We have collared our friendly local terrain expert in to provide a shuttle service so you spend more time riding downhill and a little less energy slogging up fire roads. There will, of course, be pedalling involved to get to the trail heads, but we’ve cut this down to a mere warm-ups length.
This means you can get up to eight different descents in a day allowing you to see landscapes reminiscent of anywhere from Switzerland to Spain as well as the expected lush rolling hills of South Wales.
As this involves riding away from the trail centres and out in the wilds, you can expect nothing less than the best from your guide. Ben is one of the highest qualified guides in the country, qualified in Outdoor Emergency First Aid, he is also a Cytech Grade 3 mechanic. He will be there to help you get to the end of each section with both you and your bike unscathed.

Afan Off-Piste: Adventure
The next step up the riding ladder is to look for a bigger adventure if you want to go a little further. Brecon is a Mecca for adventure and mountain biking. But with all the trails in Wales, why limit yourself to one area? With a shuttle service dropping you off in the Black Mountains, Ben will lead you back via wild trails in the gorgeous countryside to your overnight accommodation allowing you to rest up after around 35kms of awesome riding and 1,100m of ascent on the first day.
On day two, after a great nights rest, you’ll complete a further 55km of distance and 1,000m of climbing, but with flatter sections. After two days of riding around 90km we hope you’ll be happily exhausted having completed this amazing journey of adventure while taking in the beautiful scenery South Wales has to offer.
Prices start at £160 pp for a minimum of four riders.
Price includes overnight accommodation, one breakfast, two lunches and one evening meal, transport from Afan to Brecon, baggage transport from accommodation to Afan for pick up at the end of the trip.
